In this presentation, George Morrison explores the life and career of Henry Dearborn, born in North Hampton, New Hampshire in 1751. He began his career as a young doctor before joining the the Continental Army, where he served for over eight years. Post-war he served two terms in Congress, later as a cabinet secretary, and was, before retiring in 1824, President Monroe’s Minister to Portugal. But in 1818 he found himself in the middle of a controversy that would extend to 1843. Would you rather be elected governor, or insist on telling the truth? Parking across the street.
